One thing to be aware of: setting the "Author" and "Committer" because 
it picks up your local default in .gitconfig.  I have that set to the 
email I use for github, which is not a...@spache.org.

So I had to add a "[user]" section to the Jena /.git/config.
[user]
        name = Andy Seaborne
        email = a...@apache.org

I got some commits wrong using a different email address when i shoudl 
have had my @apache.org one.
