Thank you for the detailed response.

The project I'm working on is a pilot and some amount of instability and
incompleteness is okay, so I'll give the code a whirl.

Going forward, the company I work for is likely going to want to formalize
my pilot approach (if I'm successful with it!) and incorporate it into our
product, so it's possible we could be part of the Jena community in the
future.
