Hi, In my opinion having a MQTT sampler is very useful. I have seen several discussions(mails and PRs) on jmeter where an MQTT sampler is proposed.
There are multiple message brokers out there which supports MQTT protocol. Some are ActiveMQ, HiveMQ, IBM MessageSight, Mosquitto, RabbitMQ, WSO2 Message Broker. Performance testing and finding out numbers is the competing criteria among message brokers. Therefore having an MQTT sampler through JMeter is advantageous in my point of view. It is not only that message brokers that use MQTT protocol. Several other IoT devices also use the MQTT protocol [1] for application purposes.
