The emails are not from GitHub. The ill notifications are from GitBox. I've been deleting GitBox mails for quite some time now because they make no sense. As you just said, the default mail format makes no sense, and it creates barriers across all the ASF. For instance, there's a recent incubating project, and they will have exactly the same issue: https://github.com/apache/incubator-pekko/blob/main/.asf.yaml Frankly speaking, it would really help if the defaults could change.
