Even though JMeter is typically String-typed, I think JSON Assertion does provide the necessary means for creating both "is 5 numeric" and "is 5 text" assertions. So I think we should keep this as a known behaviour, we could probably document it better, and we could probably make the error message more meaningful (e.g. explicitly mention which value has which type) -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
