Once again, official is really not the question when talking Open Source
systems. And you don't need to do an alternative. Just provide an
all-in-one distribution patch, and if it seems good we will include it.
All this is a matter of opinion. I don't buy you argument that better
integration and providing official distributions are wrong for open source and
not in the open source way. You can say that you don't agree with my views
though and I understand and respect that.
