Can you open the spreadsheet I sent in a follow up message? If not, the first two columns are for MRI - with native and pure Ruby MySQL driver, respectively. Next two columns are for JRuby trunk - with AR-JDBC and pure Ruby drivers. Last column is JRuby 1.0.1 with AR-JDBC driver. So, pure Ruby vs AR-JDBC is 18.6 vs 17.7 msec/hit. Controller line is almost entirely database work, and there we look at 2.5 vs 1.7 msec difference.
