I've banged many times about a former project of mine called Thicky
in 2004 - http://swiby.codehaus.org/prior-art.html - in Groovy. Its
flaw, ultimately, was that the interpreter for Groovy was dropped and
it went compile-only.
Charles, Thomas, Ola and Nick have all heard me talk this stuff up at
close range (poor them!), so now its time to tell a few more...
I'm helping Jean out with the project, and we are looking for more
help. Particularly:
* Java escapees to Ruby, who loved Swing's capabilities
* People interested in crafting a DSL for a rich UI
* C++ folks who can make a plugin for Firefox and/or IE and/or Safari
* Unit and functional test experts.
* Web-framework people wanting to see how the client-server side
of this shapes up (Swiby Pet Store anyone?)
