This is what ruby-prof does for MRI. You might look there.
Also, note that the compiler doesn't currently emit event hook events.
I'll add this once jruby-debug is a little further along (if Charles
doesn't get to it first).
I'm definitely curious about the general question too: What are people
using now to profile application performance (i.e. beyond
micro-benchmarks)?
