jruby.home extraction / jar-complete / content mismatch
-------------------------------------------------------
Key: JRUBY-1476
URL: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/JRUBY-1476
Project: JRuby
Issue Type: Improvement
Components: Miscellaneous
Affects Versions: JRuby 1.1.0, JRuby 1.x
Environment: any
Reporter: skaar
Assignee: Thomas E Enebo
Priority: Minor
When data is extracted from jruby-complete.jar for example into jruby-home, you
will end up with a mismatch between the version of files
expected by JRuby in the jar file and what is extracted. It is currently not
possible to re-extract, without deleting the previously extracted tree and
there is currently no way to determine if the extracted data is the same.
A couple of possibilities and things to consider:
- add a checksum of one or more files to keep track of this
- add a way to re-extract based on this checksum
- blind re-extract could leave 'stale' data
- the user might want to re-extract only 'core' data, and leave things like
non-default gems in place
