You just lose c-call / c-return events if you don't specify that.
That, in turn, means that back traces may sometimes be wrong and can
mean the debugger doesn't step correctly in some somewhat esoteric
situations
(e.g. in
puts "one" ; puts "two" ; puts "three"
the debugger should stop after each puts call, but without the
appropriate event it doesn't know to do so)
You're right that things still basically work though.
