JRuby 1.1 will support running with a thread pool, to reduce the cost of
spinning up new Ruby threads. However currently the default ThreadPoolExecutor
settings are being used, which I believe will spin up as many threads as are
running concurrently and age down to zero threads. The min and max live threads
in that pool should be configurable by JRuby users.
