This is a placeholder issue until I can find out exactly what it is that goes
wrong. We have a small application (skunkworks), that does some simple database
tests - JRuby ends up being 10x slower than MRI. Just for the sake of it, I
created a Java class that does the same database operations, no problem there.
Then I ported this Java class to JRuby to see if it was Java Integration that
was slow, but the JRuby version performance almost as well as the pure Java
version for this benchmark.
Something is extremely rotten, but it doesn't seem to be JI. More details
coming later.
