JRuby 1.1.1 can't install native gems like Mongrel, Hpricot, etc

This is already fixed by upgrading to rubygems 1.1.1, but I'm filing this so it
will be listed in 1.1.2 fixed issues. The problem is that it's simply not
picking the right platform, and always trying to download and build/install the
native gems. Obviously, that fails terribly on JRuby.
