We plan on trying to release JRuby 1.1.3 by the end of the week
(hopefully on Thursday). If people have "must-haves" or
"it-would-be-dreadfully-nice-if" issues, then please let us know. We
have a three or so days to square things away. One issue is adding 64
bit support for Linux POSIX functions...others?
Faster IO!
There are some IO perf fixes in for 1.1.3 already...did you have any
specific bugs in mind? We definitely want to improve IO perf, but we're
unlikely to ever beat MRI for raw IO performance when execution performance
isn't a factor.

I guess it should be pointed out that having an open issue (or
pointing to it) and having that issue be small enough for someone to
wrap their head around it will help us to resolve it. I know this is
obvious, but most of the comments in this thread thus far have not
referred to specific issues...Not that we don't want to know the areas
people want us to work on :)
