We've got a couple of instances in code we're trying to port to JRuby where BasicObject has been set as a parent class and we're finding that methods we would have expected to inherit from Object are failing whenever method_missing comes into play.
I've linked two minimal reproductions since they'll likely explain the issue better than I can in this situation.
