Hi, I opened https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-9673 a week or so ago sketching an idea for conditionally applying SMTs, which improve the experience for users of connectors, such as Debezium, which can send records to multiple different topics where SMTs need to be applied to for some topics but not others. For example, in Debezium's case there's the desire to differentiate between schema change events and normal data modification events. I'm interested in any feedback people may have on this idea.
