Thanks for the patch. A couple comments.
1. Since this is a relatively big change on an important feature, could we add
some design doc first so that we can have some discussion on the best way to
approach the implementation?
2. We have a new producer in trunk and the old producer will eventually be
phased out. Perhaps the ssl implementation only needs to be added to the new
producer?
