I would like to propose this minikip KIP-1252: AlterConfigPolicy compatibility in legacy Zookeeper mode (3.9.2 release) https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=399279475 that aims to combine a fix to an old inconsistency without breaking any backward compatibility. Adding new config in minor releases is an exception, as for ZK support the 3.9.x branch is the end of the line Objections are welcome but If no objections are raised, you might even cast a vote in this thread :-) cheers, Edo
