Agreed, the LinkedIn engineering blog posts are generally pretty good at
describing more than the mechanisms behind the basic consumer/producer
functionality. For instance, nowhere on the kafka project documentation pages
does it state that there is a formula for calculating the practical maximum
number of partitions (100 * # brokers * replication #), had to find that gem on
some AWS benchmarking blog...
