Ewen Cheslack-Postava commented on KAFKA-3567: ---------------------------------------------- [~bharatviswa] But you still need to modify things in the producer or consumer properties anyway since, afaict, none of the security options can work without setting additional properties. Why make `security.protocol` first class if you still have to specify additional configs in a producer/consumer properties file. In that case using it this way actually *adds* overhead rather than removing it. > Add --security-protocol option to console consumer and producer > --------------------------------------------------------------- > > Key: KAFKA-3567 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-3567 > Project: Kafka > Issue Type: Improvement > Affects Versions: 0.9.0.0 > Reporter: Sriharsha Chintalapani > Assignee: Bharat Viswanadham > Labels: needs-kip > -- This message was sent by Atlassian JIRA (v6.3.4#6332)
