I'm not sure if the build did break before building the manual, but for me I had no issue with the latest from the 2.3.x branch, regarding building, generating javadoc and sources jars. Only one of the itests failed, but this seemed to be an issue of the service-wraper test. Besides that the manual failed, but I don't have everything available on my mac-book for it to be generated :)
