Hi Pat,
as config feature is installed, and used by Karaf itself (for the
"internal" config), it's OK there.
I just tested with Karaf 3.0.3, and ManagedService (and factory) works fine.
Can you share your project (pom.xml, Activator, and ManagedService class) ?
