Solved by removing scope runtime from Karaf’s standard features dependency. I wonder if scope runtime is useful at all or if the documentation is wrong: https://karaf.apache.org/manual/latest/developers-guide/custom-distribution.html <dependency> <!-- scope is runtime so the feature repo is listed in etc/org.apache.karaf.features.cfg file, and features will installed into the system directory --> <groupId>org.apache.karaf.features</groupId> <artifactId>standard</artifactId> <classifier>features</classifier> <type>xml</type> <scope>runtime</scope> </dependency> O. > Regards, > O. > > [0] > https://github.com/apache/sling/tree/trunk/contrib/launchpad/karaf/org.apach > e.sling.launchpad.karaf-distribution [1] > https://github.com/apache/sling/tree/trunk/contrib/launchpad/karaf/org.apach > e.sling.launchpad.karaf-features
