I think Alex hit the big points. A couple others I’d like to add:
1. all the legal work that went into getting this into the ASF, and. We had to check with past contributors, make sure to get a code grant (which was very large, as you can imagine), getting clearance for things like logos and other trademarks from Red Hat and other companies. 2. Helping the large group of contributors understand how things work at the ASF versus what they were/are at employers. This has proven to be somewhat difficult, fortunately, I believe we are past the major hurdles here. I may come back with some other things as I think of them 😊 -- Jason Porter Software Engineer He/Him/His IBM From: Rich Bowen <rbo...@rcbowen.com> Date: Friday, July 18, 2025 at 08:10 To: dev@kie.apache.org <dev@kie.apache.org> Subject: [EXTERNAL] Re: Intro and not-so-hidden agenda On Jul 18, 2025, at 9:42 AM, Alex Porcelli <a...@porcelli.me> wrote: > > Hi Rich, > > ... > Here is my perspective on why a project like KIE takes over two years > (and likely a bit more) to graduate. … Thank you, Alex, this was extremely helpful. — Rich Bowen rbo...@rcbowen.com
