Sumit Gupta commented on KNOX-669:
----------------------------------
Hey [~lmccay], Thanks for the comment. I can see the confusion as the commit is
one of many for the JIRA but could be a feature on its own. The usecase is that
of allowing authentication to be done by the proxied service instead of Knox.
In this case, Ambari uses basic auth to authenticate the user and does not
support any form of a trusted proxy relationship. Also, when accessing the UI
it does make sense for the authentication to be done by the proxied service.
Therefore this new provider is in the role of 'authentication' and simply adds
an anonymous principal and moves on.
I will rename the JIRA as suggested as this commit that can stand on its own. I
will also however create a new JIRA for the Proxy support for the Ambari UI and
relate the two.
