Can you please disentangle "whether we want git or svn for our code" and
"whether our site will use CMS, svnpubsub, or a git-involving solution"?

The former is easy, see my previous link (is up to date now) and ask
here if you have questions.  Yes we support migrating history.

The latter is easy so long as you opt for one of the first two choices.
The third is presently unsupported, you're free to lay out your ideas
but it's not a priori clear we would be able to accommodate your wishes.
