I think I have gone past this issue. I "think", the issue was around an older segment that was built using older binaries. I rebuilt that segment using Cloudera and now am in business. I'am able to reproduce this issue with an older/smaller cube with 70MM records. I'm sure if I rebuilt this the issue may go away. If you can make any sense of this technically, do let me know.
CDH5.5.3 works finally !!
