This is not good experience for user to edit cube. As our discussion yesterday, will enhance to allow user to edit cube metadata, but cube data must to be purged and status to be disable before edit it (empty cube): https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KYLIN-1168
One bonus feature will be introduced with this change is to support "clone" action: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KYLIN-1128 Then, if user want to keep old cube metadata and also data, just need to clone it (default to be empty). If not, user could purge and disable it, then do any edition there and rebuild again. Hope this will bring more convenient experience for users:) Thanks.
