Hi, PyHive and Kyuubi developers, This discussion is raised for donating PyHive[1] to be part of Apache Kyuubi.
PyHive is a popular Python library developed at Dropbox that allows users to use DB-API and SQLAlchemy interfaces to access Presto, Hive, and Trino. Unfortunately, the project is currently unsupported. Meanwhile, we were asked frequently how to use Python to connect Kyuubi, and I think it’s time to consider maintaining an official Python Client, but I think it is not required from scratch, developing based on PyHive should be a good choice. I have briefly discussed the idea of donating with the PyHive maintainers, and they are willing to do so to revive the project. I’d like to listen to the voice of the Kyuubi community about such a donation. If no objection, I’d like to follow the Intellectual Property Clearance[2] to start the donation process.
