The Apache Kyuubi community is working with DropBox to complete the ASF donation process and is currently waiting for DropBox to sign the SGA before the Kyuubi community can receive the code[1] and begin development. PyHive is a widely adopted Python Hive client, which could be used to connect to any HiveServer2-compatible Thrift Server, including HiveServer2, Spark Thrift Server, Impala, Kyuubi, etc. To be clear, we still want to keep such compatibility in the future.
