I've not started localization under Linux yet.
And now I have only Windows on my machine.
Our translators use Windows and I think POEdit is the best solution for us.

...and you may be interested in fact kbabel 3.5 allows to have duplicates
with 
the msgcontxt (or whatever it's called) expansion of the gettext files 
format.
