Hi everyone :)Now I can see OpenOffice in my own language, I am concerned that the keyboard shortcuts shown actually conflict with the localized accelerators.
Please see bug 71409 [1], which is apparently "not an issue". I think this _is_ an issue.
The original developer, working in English in this case, creates the Menu item "File", and chooses the keyboard accelerator "F", so the string look like:
"~File" We translate that string. In Vietnamese, it becomes: "~Tập tin" Yet in the application, the menu item appears as: "~Tập tin Control+F"Firstly, I'm confused by this. Which keyboard shortcut activates this item? "F" or "T"? Or do both?
Secondly, I can't see the point in us localizing the accelerators unless they have function.
I think this is a confusing situation for international users. One of the responders to the bug said, "I still think, that these ctrl+ shortcuts are the ones, user knows,", but in the case of my language, we are introducing OpenOffice to a very large user group which has not been using English software. The only accelerator which is going to make sense to them, is one marked in the localized string, most certainly not "F", which doesn't even exist in our alphabet!
