Being an individual member of the consortium myself, I think this is a very good idea.
GNOME foundation seems to be the only open source project in the consortium and despite the fact that FLOSS projects have had huge impact on Unicode implementation and localization, open source world is clearly underrepresented there. As Ienup noted, GNOME foundation joined merely a month ago. So I totally support this idea. Aiet Kolkhi
