Yes, this is being discussed in http://qa.openoffice.org/servlets/BrowseList?list=dev&by=thread&from=2432891 and http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=113088 But indeed it is becoming a problem, especially because it's unclear who can delete spam attachments.
