Hi!
If it is no longer used, I'd be in favor of dropping it ASAP! There is
nothing more confusing to someone trying to understand the codebase than
a piece of code that's not used anymore while there is a new mechanism
doing just the same.
Keeping the code base clean will definitely save a lot of questions on
the lists ...

Shall we start a vote? IMO we should not leave
orphaned code in the codebase without a good reason.
IMO if they are no objections, we should just remove them. A vote should
only be necessary if there are concerns.
