This is exactly why we do not want that. All communication about the

Hmm, I am just trying to tell you, that it can make the impression (even
if not intended).

Believe me I am talking from experience and just trying to help:

ah, ok.
still, my attitude to this is a lot more relaxed than ross's, but i see how the situation can become unpleasant if the people involved have had too much coffee.

Talking about subsystems we as project need to maintain *all* code in
our rep, what happen if people take off but "signed their code" do we
just remove the code or will maintain it?

well, only a few days ago we had this mysterious, obviously wrong loop in the ldap code, and it would have been helpful to know who to contact... ok, it's in the svn log, which is why i will now shut up about the whole issue, but i still don't see the harm done...

How can we, as project, control that the redirect actually happens? Why
not preventing instead of curing?

so we trust committers not to fuck up the lenya repository, but we don't trust them to redirect lenya mail to the list?

open-source is driven by altruism, cleverness, credit, trust and openness, not by apache bylaws. the bylaws are just there to *organize* these factors into a succesful project.

phew. i really should shut up now. thanks for listening.

out for some fresh air,
