richard, will you have some time this week for porting and testing fckeditor with the new generic usecases? i'm going to tackle that tomorrow, but i will certainly need some help.

fck isn't too bad. I've been able to cipher out what needs to be done in the past based on BXE and TinyMCE. I should be able to look at stuff tomorrow morning, I'm -5 from GMT at the moment. I should have the time to take a look at the changes you've made thus far and see what I can do as well.

after some digging, i must say fck looks quite good. in direct comparison to bxe, it's quite refreshing. (i wonder what's worse: the bxe core or the way it's hacked and slashed into lenya... i even found unizh conditionals in there :)

the only drawback with fck is that my most fundamental assumption does not hold: i took for granted that we can slip javascript code into the window context of the editor. while it's easy to get code into the main window, fck implements its dialogs in new browser windows, so my callbacks aren't there.

i wonder: should i investigate further how to hook up to the existing dialogs, or create a plugin for lenya-internal links and images?
how much of the rather extensive link editor do your users really need?

one other question: it seems you are not using the "insertAsset" functionality at all. tiny doesn't either, and i've never missed it, and given that it's broken atm, i wonder if it's worth the hassle...

i'm hanging out on #lenya @ irc.freenode.net, in case you feel like chatting...

regards,

jörn
