The width of the table (class="lenya-body") is set to 100%. Non floating divs consume the full available width. In the tabbed admin section I'd like to get rid of the 100% width rule. But this affects the login/logout screens. I'll submit a reworked patch that shows the effect. An ie 5 specific stylesheet is in the works.
