Yes, very useful. But I'd rather use design mode / content editable
instead of forms for the same restricted feature set.
Would this also make sense for source editing? Unfortunately I'm not yet

Would improve user experience and also would keep the document flow intact.
If you use Ajax
you require the brower to enable javascript anyway and all major browser
engines support content editable out of the box.
