Thanks for the pointer!
Does anybody have ideas for possible improvements by a student? (I
assume any work would be for Lenya 2.)
IMO the proposals shouldn't require to get familiar with Lenya
internals. The smaller the interface to Lenya and the more
self-contained the work, the better.
Some nice-to-have improvements from my POV:
- Diff for XML document revisions, based on the DOM structure rather
than XML text
- A clean CSS-based layout for the Lenya GUI that makes it easy to use
custom skins
- A nice, performant tree view of the site with more interaction
capabilities (drag&drop, workflow, ...), maybe using Ajax
- Syntax highlighting for the source editor (aka OneForm)
- Complete, tested WebDAV server functionality (might be too
complicated, though)
- OpenID authentication
What were the results from the last time the Lenya project
participated?
IIRC we had at least two proposals. Something about improving the editor
integration, and a proper Lucene integration. The latter was accepted.
Was the work added to trunk?
Yes, and it works very well.
Was participation valuable to our project?
IMO yes. The code could probably be better in some places, but we now
have a quite nice indexing and search capability.
