As a proof of concept, I exported a part of the site as static HTML:
http://lenya.zones.apache.org/docu-preview/index.html
The following command was used:
wget --cut-dirs=2 -nH -r -e robots=off http://localhost:7777/docu/live/
Nice.
So I install the docu pub and start the above command in the lenya/site
dir, when we switch to the new format.
One thing regarding the design:
http://lenya.zones.apache.org/docu-preview/docu/rm.html
Here the left menu point is growing into the content div.
I guess the menu area is too wide. Which browser are you using? I just
noticed that IE6 doesn't display the page, but the XML content.
Can we import all documentation that we have right now to practice a
clean cut for the move? You said the other mail you changed some points.
Yes, I'll bring the content up to date as soon as we declare a freeze on
the docu repository. At the moment the update is a bit cumbersome
because it can't be done fully automated due to my changes to the site
structure.
Makes it sense to have for each version of the docu an own pub?
Good question. I think at the moment it's easier to have everything in a
single publication. If we notice that this isn't useful, we can split it.
The next ToDos are:
- Resolve access control issues (SSL, user management)
- Publishing of non-document (placeholder) site nodes (not possible atm)
- Testing in the major browsers
- Declare a code freeze on the docu repo
- Update the content
- Start using the new publishing process
