the company I'm working for is still using Lenya, internally and for
customer projects. At the moment we only use it for relatively simple
static websites, so the vanilla version has been sufficient for a while
and we didn't have the chance to develop and commit any enhancements.
I still find many of Lenya's core concepts and principles very valid and
valuable, but unfortunately we (the Lenya community) didn't have the
resources to keep up with the competition in many (functional and
technological) aspects.
I see only two scenarios for a healthy future of the project:
A) An institution which already uses Lenya decides to invest in its
future (technologically and/or functionally).
B) We use our expertise and experience to start from scratch, with a
limited and well-defined scope and current technologies. But I feel that
doing this inside the Apache project would be a misuse of the brand and
the resources of the foundation and it should happen outside the ASF
until a stable community is established.
