Hi,
It seems, this is an installation problem of Basque dictionary.
Using "ANY" region code solves the problem:
DICT eu ANY eu_ES
(See also http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=69771)
Thanks for the bug report,

Some days ago I (finally) found the new myspell dictionary for the
Basque language. I installed it and it worked for firefox, thunderbird,
NVU, but not for Openoffice. I have been trying everything, but no
result. The problem is that I can see the blue check mark next to
Basque, so it should be there and thus correctly entered in
dictionary.lst. But when selecting Basque as the language for a
document, no spelling is checked. Returning to options I see that the
blue check mark disappeared. Another thing I noted is that in the 'Edit
Modules' dialog (Tools>Options...) but then, there is no checkbox next
to Basque.
Now the strangest thing: I decided to give it a try and say in
dictionary.lst that this is not Basque but Dutch from Belgium (Dutch
from Netherlands was already occupied by my mother tongue), reading:
DICT nl BE eu-ES and guess what, when I select Belgian Dutch, suddenly
my Basque spelling check works! Can anyone explain to me what needs to
be changed in OpenOffice to be able to use this Basque spelling checker
as Basque and not as Dutch?
