You don't need to convert them, you have to add some extra files
(descriptions) and pack them into a zip archive. I've turned my Russian,
Belarusian and Esperanto dictionaries into extensions in just a couple of
minutes each. However, and I've expressed my opinion here already, the new
mechanism is not better than the old one because it solves some old problems
and adds some new ones.
3. It's regressive in that it kills cooperation with software like
Thunderbird which, today, can use the same dictionaries as are used by
OOo.
Again, the dictionaries remain intact. So, for Mozilla products you'll just
unpack them.
