We are currently running a web app on NT4/Apache2/CFMX6.1/MySQL4.1 with
everything on the same box. At over a million hits a week (500K page
requests), it is becoming clear that Apache/CF and MySQL are fighting for
the box's resources, and advice has been given to move the MySQL to a
separate box.

We have obtained another W2K Server box (both are at TeleHouse), to which
I have access, but now I'm stuck as to what is the next step.

My main concern is that we may not be able to use the native CF MySQL JDBC
drivers and have to return to MySQL ODBC. Can anyone who may have done
something similar confirm/deny this before I try and stick my neck into a
noose?

Any other links/tips on this subject would also be welcome. Have
googled long and hard with little success on this subject.

Cheers
Terry Riley
