You cannot put a border on a TR, as it has no border, it is just a container for table cells. You can only put a border on TABLE or TD So you will need to either do the following On the left most TD put a top, bottom and left border On the right most TD put a top, right and bototm border On the center TD's put only top and bottom border Or put another table in the TD and put the border round that.
