Ok,
Question really is what type of pain in the arse you want to be.

If somebody has to call up about an order, do you want them to have to
quote some nightmare 20 char string at you, or a simple order number
which can be easily recognized on both sides of the supply chain.

Stick with a simple incrementing order ID.

If you want to make it more complex, then create some sort of reference
using a combination of orderID, date, postcode, and penis size.

Anyone know a good way to generate unique order numbers?

Thanks, Damien
