LOL ...... triggers are useful for some things as Russ can testify (and I in
some degree) - A trigger would do the job yeah but can  as others noted, be
hard to track/manage.  The problem comes down to the database, but since
it's inherited you probable don't have much control as you could get away
with any need for 6 updates/triggers with a modified DB design.

In your case a trigger would work AOK - not my preferred route but still OK.

You will have to work out with tests via SQL Profiler etc if your DB is
taking unnecessary hits with it.

OK Guys,

I've inherited an app which manages suppliers

Once a supplier is no longer  valid, they are deactivated.  This basically
means an update which has to occur on around 6 tables at the same time.

The updates are currently done via 6 cfqueries but the apps using SQL
server, so i'm thinking that using a trigger would make sense.

Anyone think of anything more appropriate or are triggers the best way?
