ok, almost there. getting this error now:
* Unexpected Error.: Cannot find CFML
template for custom tag file. - ColdFusion
attempted looking in the tree of installed custom
tags but did not find a custom tag with this name.
Ireplaced cffile with cf_file
shouldn't i reference this somewhere?

By Default CreateObject() is disabled on CFMX hosting servers, even if you
have a sandbox. You have to implicitly ask for it.
Only the CreateObject(java) method is disabled on CFDeveloper, cozz I don't
want people screwing with the service factory.
